I do love a few of them very much but the rest remind me of the differences at the core level between our two views on politics & government.

The subject line read: If you think health care is expensive now...

"A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." --George Bernard Shaw

"Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But, I repeat myself." --Mark Twain

"Talk is cheap - except when Congress does it."

Since I included the subject line I feel I'm intitled to respond to it: the US has the highest cost of health care (per person) of ALL industrialized countries, by a long shot and it is the ONLY industralized country without public health care. I now leave conservatives to do the math. And yes, I pointed that out ot my mother. Gutsy or foolish?

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.
If we spend it at Walmart, the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline, the money will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car, it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan. and none of it will help the North American economy.

the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like.
Being American is apparently what kills you.
