It is now confirmed: on September 24th I'm organizing (on behalf of LGBTOUT but clearly attending that uni is not a pre-req)
"Beyond the Binary: a trans information exchange fair".

Nuts and bolts:
Saturday 24th of September, 5:30 to ~8:30
Location: hopefully on the U of T campus, but room booking is pending
Who?: This is an all ages and a FREE event happening at the end of LGBTOUT's Queer Frosh Week but EVERYONE regardless of academic education standings is welcome.
The goal: to create/expand our sense of community and resources.

Here's what I'm envisioning and need from all you lovely people:
-->SPREAD THE WORD FAR AND WIDE<--
I want as many people with as many diverse background/experiences to come together and exchange ideas/solutions/tidbits/etc...
Whether you are genderqueer, bigendered, TG, two-spirited, transguy, t-girl, non-opt, post-opt, pre-opt, gender blender, fill in blank here you should be there.

Whether you are new to the whole deal or done and done transition (as far as you are concerned) come and enjoy the free snacks and drinks.

So if you've been operated by Dr. XYZ (e.g. I don't care) and got top surgery, trachial shave, hystorectomy, orchiectomy, etc... however long ago it'd be great if you were willing to talk about it, possibly (depending on the procedure and your own comfort level, showing the results would also be great!).

If you went to St-Mike's, Sherbourne, the Clark/CAMH, family doc or a GP elsewhere to get on HRT and are willing to chitter chatter about your experience let me know.

If you transitioned at work, got a job mid way (whatever that means to you) or after the physical but before the legal name change, let me know if you are willing to share your experience.

I will talk to employers (who have trans employees) and staff at the Sherbourne and see if any of them would be game to come and be there as well. If you think your employer and/or doctor would be game (just to talk and offer advice based on their own experience), please let me know.

I REALLY need help getting MTFs out, PLEASE PLEASE help me with this.
From my own pool of friends I know people who've had a variety of proceduresdone by Dupéré, Mcleans, Silverman and Brassard so hopefully we will have a good number of them come out and share their experience. Again, if you know MTFs who went to whatever docs they go to (I only vaguely know of a few names for the odd procedure, again I'm very lacking but very determined to make this a balanced event)

I've got a tiny budget (think enough to buy snacks and pop) so honourariums won't be available I'm terribly sorry. Advertizing has already gone out to all three U of T campuses but now it's time to reach far and wide and ensure this work benefits all of us.
