tyresias | Recommendations for eye exam?

Nearly 6 years ago, I got my first pair of glasses. I was worried at the time, considering my track record with sunglasses. But I did not loose them and they did not break on me. Until recently, in a faithful walk to the washroom. It seems both the frame and lenses were truly built to be resilient and I think they could be put back together. But, if you've ever witnessed me watching TV or on webcam, you know I need to stop squinting and a new prescription is long overdue.

Anyway, the point of this post is that I have no eye doctor. My last optometrist (spelling?) was in Vancouver. It was a good experience but I'm not returning to the lower mainland before October (yeah IDKE!). So, all of you 4-eyes/lenses wearers out there in the GTA, feel free to pimp your eye doctors, or alternatively to warn me against maniacs (I appreciate both). I've done this twice before (for a dentist and a dental surgeon) and both times worked out splendily for me, so my expectations are high, folks :)

Bonus if they are located downtown (1) and open longer hours (2). The Bay offers a great selection of frames but no physician on staff :(
