I have been inspired by
madknits for a while now to restructure my blogging with certain days of the week having specific themes/content as his blog does. He has a delightful weekly post entitled Thursday Randomocity and I have decided I will follow suit. Mine is likely to contain less random things about me than his does about him but the spirit is the same. However, I have been at a lost for coming up with an equally snazzy title. Suggestions?

Income tax in Canada was instituted in 1919, as a way to repay the state debt accumulated as a result of “World”* War "I". Canadians will quickly note it never went away.
*Qualifying the war as wordly has been called into question given that none of the war sites were outside of Europe. Recognizing this forces the 1 to be reconcidered, although neither "world" wars saw the inclusion of contigents of all armies of all countries, nevermind on all continents.
The earliest recorded case of a man giving up smoking was on April 5, 1679, when Johan Katsy, Sheriff of Turky, Finland, wrote in his diary "I quit smoking tobacco." He died one month later.
Maternity leave pay for working parents became legally required in Canada in 1971. That same year, families with a (multiple) working parent(s) began to get tax breaks for enrolling kids in child care programs.
The first known contraceptive was crocodile dung, used by Egyptians in 2000 B.C.
