FYI: the protest tomorrow
May. 22nd, 2005 01:21 pmI realised all that I'm about to say the first time I got the notice. This isn't to disuade anyone from going (I think I will) but just so you know:
FACT: Same-sex legislation is being passed at the federal level.
FACT: Queen's park is the provincial legislature.
THUS: The people who organized the anti same-sex marriage protest are either clueless or simply in it for visibility/publicity in the media.
FACT: whomever booked queen's park for the day has sexurity on their side.
READ: If anything does go down, however queer positive queen's park officers are (and they are very, sinec the head of that police force is the former owner of Tango) they will remove pro same-sex marriage folks first. it's part of the contract you sign with queen's park when you book it for the afternoon.
FACT: you will NOT be allowed into queen's park under ANY circumstances.
READ: If you need to pee you will have to pray the med sci uilding to the West at U of T will be opened. Or you're walking quite the distance.
